Introduction
The Guanting project invites Chinese PhD or master students and researchers to contribute to the integrated modelling of water and agricultural land use in the GUANTING WATERSHED under special consideration of climate change.
The topics of particular interest are listed in the following topic section. Each topic, which is sub structured in tasks, serve as reference for own contributions for your application.
The disciplines involved are Climatology, Hydrology, Water Management, Agronomy, Freshwater Ecology, Economics, and Mathematics. English as working language is requested.
The individual project work is divided into four phases. In a first definition phase the working program will be specified. The definition will be supported by German scientists if necessary. In the working phase the selected task will be worked out.
In a third training phase, we will support all participants in their selected topics on site by hosting a training workshop in Beijing. The participants will be trained by German scientists in topics related to the selected task, e. g. data analysis and modelling.
The final publication phase is aimed to deliver a report as basis for a publication.
Acknowledgement and Awards
All reports will be peer reviewed and certified. The five best studies will be acknowledged by inviting five main contributors of the studies to a visiting research stay in Germany in May 2012. During the research stay the winners will get the opportunity to present their work to an international audience. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered.
