Climate Change Challenges for Water Management in Northern China

The conference will present the results of the Chinese as well as the German research on topics related to the impacts of climate change on the water cycle, the water quality and quantity but also the impacts on population, economic growth, land use, industry and the conditions of agricultural production. Adaptation options and strategies will be presented and also discussed in a moderated final podium discussion.

At the end of each presentation some minutes for discussion are planned, moreover during the conference poster sessions and other live presentations will offer the opportunity to start a direct scientific exchange and talk individually about special issues.

Wednesday, 17th October 2012:

1. session (morning): official part (opening addresses) - introductory presentation about Guanting Project by Dr. Frank Wechsung

2. session (afternoon): Presentations of Guanting results as well as Chinese Presentations about climate, eco-hydrological modeling and protection of riverbeds

3. session (afternoon): Presentations of Guanting results as well as Chinese Presentations about water management, nutrient emissions, reconstruction of water systems and restoration of reservoirs

Thursday, 18th October 2012 :

4. session (morning): Presentations of Guanting results as well as Chinese Presentations about rainfall-runoff in China, an hydrological model, watershed management, Reservoir classification, socioeconomic analyses

5. session (morning): Chinese Presentations about monitoring, restoration with the help of forest and water resources
